Is the software mobile compatible?

Yes, links to the mobile apps are available from the Help section of the MechanicDesk portal.  Large tablets would be able to use MechanicDesk directly in the browser with minimal differences.


Can I do basic accounting with MechanicDesk?

Yes. you can print reports which will provide you with the dollar values required to enter in to your accounting system. These can be found under the reports section.

For more advanced accounting capabilities, MechanicDesk relies on our 3rd party integrations. At the moment, MechanicDesk is integrated with 3 services (in no particular order):

  • Xero
  • MYOB
  • Quickbooks

Can I extract data from MechanicDesk to use outside the system?

You can extract your data in Excel or CSV format.  The export interface is available from Settings > Data Import/Export.


Can I use MechanicDesk without an internet connection (i.e. offline)?

As MechanicDesk is fully cloud based, it cannot be accessed without the internet. All data is stored securely on our servers and requires an internet connection at all times.


What are the minimum requirements to run MechanicDesk?

There are no formal minimum requirements to run MechanicDesk. However, it is recommended that:

  1. MechanicDesk be run on Google's Chrome or other Chromium-based browser. The site is optimised for this browser and is approximately 30% faster when run on Chrome compared to Internet Explorer. That being said, MechanicDesk is capable of running on all major browsers such as Safari, Firefox, etc.
  2. 8GB of RAM is available on your system.  Modern operating systems and software will struggle to perform with less memory available.


What are the subscription payment methods available?

We have 2 options available: 

  1. Credit card - You may enter your card details after you select a plan to subscribe with MechanicDesk. Once entered and confirmed, the subscription fee is automatically charged onto this card monthly in advance.  Annual subscriptions are not available.
  2. Bank Transfer - After receiving your monthly invoice, deposit the payment directly into our bank account.  Please contact the MechanicDesk Support Team if you would like to set up payment by bank transfer.

Can I change how my invoices look?

All printable elements in MechanicDesk have an associated template. These templates are customisable to a certain degree on your side. This includes uploading your own logo, adjusting its size, etc. However, if you require a higher degree of customisation, this will require development by our team. Contact the MechanicDesk Support Team to request a quote.


Printable elements include:

  • Invoices
  • Job cards (check sheets)
  • Quotes & Estimates
  • Customer statements
  • Payment receipts (also applies for Point of Sale)
  • Barcodes (customise size, design)
